Premier attends online opening ceremony of 127th Canton Fair

PremierLi Keqiang attended the online opening ceremony of the 127th China Import andExport Fair (also known as the Canton Fair) on June 15 and inspectedenterprises’ exhibitions.

Dueto the COVID-19 outbreak, the Canton Fair is being held online this year, andit attracted about 26, 000 enterprises from home and abroad.

PremierLi announced the opening of the 127th Canton Fair at about 10 am, and theninspected some online exhibition halls.

Atthe exhibition hosted by GREE Electric Appliances, the company’s representativesaid the online exhibition is innovative and the company can display all of itsproducts.

ThePremier said the online fair pioneers a new way to develop international trade,and delivers China’s determination to expand opening-up and maintain the safetyof international industrial and supply chains.

Also,he encouraged GREE to strengthen sci-tech innovations, and develop high-qualityproducts to meet market demands, and continue to play its leading role inpromoting the “Made in China” brand with stronger competitiveness and greaterachievements.

Therepresentative from Locteck, a manufacturer of products for a smart office andhealthy home, told the Premier that the company has increased exports throughdeveloping cross-border e-commerce.

ThePremier asked about their difficulties, and was told that the company needshelp to expand its overseas warehouses, which will encourage other small andmedium-sized enterprises to enter international markets.

PremierLi said that developing cross-border e-commerce is a way for enterprises tosurvive and compete against the backdrop of the epidemic. Also, building moreoverseas warehouse platforms for small and medium-sized enterprises will helpthem achieve common development through cross-border e-commerce.

Heasked related departments to investigate the company’s suggestion and providesupport.

Themanager of Tangshan’s Huida Group told the Premier that their ceramic sanitaryware is not only for export, but also expanding in the domestic market, especiallyproviding suitable products to meet the residents’ needs in renovating oldneighborhoods.

PremierLi said that ceramic industry is a typically traditional one, but it iscontinuously upgrading and developing. Since China is promoting consumption andupgrading, it can make innumerable great achievements if traditional industriesare well developed. The Premier told the manager he hopes his company can seizethe opportunity brought by old neighborhood renovation during the constructionof new-type urbanization, make good use of the policy that promotes sales ofexport-oriented commodities at home, and continue to improve the quality andenrich the variety of products to better meet people’s needs. Also, productcompetitiveness should be improved continuously to enlarge developmentpotential in the international market.

PremierLi stressed that China is a big open market featuring strong global potential.The country will keep improving import facilitation and increase readilymarketable products to share the opportunities of the Chinese market withenterprises all over the world. China is willing to cooperate with allcountries to empower world economy recovery.

Thesecond half of this year will continue to see a severe and complex externalenvironment, which will exert a lasting influence on the country’s import andexport, Premier Li said, calling efforts to ensure six priorities and stabilityin six key areas, to stabilize foreign trade and foreign investment, and tocomplete the annual economic and social development goals of this year.

Vice-PremierHu Chunhua inaugurated the opening ceremony of the fair. Li Xi, secretary ofthe CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Secretary-General of the State CouncilXiao Jie and He Lifeng, head of the National Development and Reform Commission,also attended the event.
